Every pastor is involved with parishioners, hospitalized patients, related to end of life issues. Medical technology and interventions offer hope and cure. At the same time, death will ultimately come and decisions will ultimately need to be made regarding end of life issues. This is an important workshop for us to gather and consider our stated and applied theology, our pastoral response to parishioners and their families at end of life, and comprehend more fully ethical and legal issues surrounding this topic.
Kelly Markham, LCSW, is the Palliative Care Coordinator at Baptist Hospital. She brings to this workshop significant expertise, compassion, and competence in the area of palliative care, having worked with hundreds of patients and their families for the past fifteen years.
Don Winslett, the Director of the Center for Clergy Care and Education, works extensively in the area of grief and bereavement, assisting pastors in the area of making responsible pastoral interventions at times when death is imminent.
This workshop will help you, not only to focus on your pastoral care with end of life situations, it will also assist you in educating your congregation to make informed decisions regarding end of life issues.
We’d like to extend a special thank you to Covenant Hospice for generously sponsoring this event.
